Karachi, Hyderabad LG elections on January 15 after ECP rejects Sindh’s request

The Sindh administration requested that the local government elections in Hyderabad and Karachi be delayed, but the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) rejects Sindh’s request.

ECP rejects Sindh’s request. The choice was made in Islamabad at a high-level gathering presided over by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja. The ECP was evaluated following the provincial government’s pronouncement.

Elections for local bodies were delayed late at night by the Sindh PPP government due to MQM-P concerns about delimitations.

Sindh postponed elections for a fourth time.

On July 24 of last year, the Sindh government called off the second round of the LG elections due to flooding and a shortage of police and security. Polls on August 28 and October 23 were also postponed as a result.

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) will hold a sit-in today in front of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office in Karachi. JI demonstrations are over.

JI Karachi President Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman called a sit-in outside the Sindh headquarters of the Election Commission for 3 o’clock in a press conference.

The PPP-led Sindh government, according to the JI leader, is depriving the populace of their constitutional rights. He asserted that the elections were called off due to fear of the popular will.

The Sindh administration cannot delay elections “on a letter,” according to Hafiz Naeem as well. A “Suo Motu” notification was requested from CEC Sikander Sultan Raja by the man.

Two days prior to the election, Rehman questioned how voting could be delayed. He also believed that the ECP shouldn’t postpone voting.

The JI leader pleaded with the Election Commission to act against them, return the letter to the Sindh government, and take “Suo Motu” notice.
