senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) politician Parvez Khattak has rejected Imran Khan intention On dissolving the KP Assembly, tomorrow (Tuesday).
Khattak urged that the KP Assembly should be dissolving after January 20 during a meeting of PTI leaders on Sunday. According to sources, Khattak stated that if the house were to dissolve on Tuesday, the elections would be held during Ramadan.
According to the sources, the former prime minister spoke at the PTI leaders’ meeting yesterday. He discussed the dissolution of the KP Assembly through a video link. The meeting was held to discuss the party’s strategy and plans going forward.
The sources added that Khattak explained his opposition to the dissolution on Tuesday, saying that if it were to be dissolved on January 17, voting would take place during Ramadan, which would result in low voter turnout.
He added that as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) holds elections within 90 days after the legislature is dissolved, if the legislature is dissolved after January 20, then elections will be held after Eid ul Fitr.
Since it would be difficult for people to vote during Ramadan owing to fasting, Khattak advised. The people would be able to come out of their homes and cast their votes more conveniently if the election were not held during Ramadan. He suggested that the election should be held at a more convenient time for the voters.
When asked about the senior PTI leader’s worries, Khan responded. “If elections were to take place in Ramadan, the turnout would still be good.” He believes that the religious significance of Ramadan would not affect voter turnout.

According to the sources, Chief Minister Mehmood Khan and Shaukat Yousuf Zai, two other top PTI figures from KP, also insisted that the parliament should be dissolved. They suggested that it should happen after two or three days. This is to ensure that the party can strategize and plan for the upcoming elections.
A few ministries “have showed their reservations regarding the dissolution of the KP Assembly,” the sources added.
Ministers at conference argued that running an electoral campaign in upper regions during winter would be challenging. Difficulty to reach areas and hold meetings with electorate in winter. Suggested holding elections in warmer months.
It should be recalled that the Punjab Awas was successfully dissolved on Khan’s orders earlier last week. However, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi would continue in his position as CM until the temporary chief minister’s name is decided.
