Fawad’s temporary remand: Fawad Chaudhry, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was brought before a local Lahore court on Wednesday and the court approved his temporary detention.
Following his criticism of the government for plotting what he called a conspiracy with the electoral body to arrest PTI Chairman Imran Khan, the former federal minister was taken into custody outside of his home in the early hours of today in response to an ECP complaint.
Following his arrest, Fawad was brought before Rana Mudassir, a judicial magistrate in Lahore’s Cantt.
The prosecution informed the judge at the beginning of the session that a case had been filed against Fawad and asked the court to approve his temporary detention.
At this point, Fawad’s attorney argued that the transitory remand was unnecessary. This is because it only takes four hours to travel from Lahore to Islamabad.
Fawad’s attorney suggested that the police just bring him before a court in Islamabad. The attorney asserted that the police desired Fawad’s temporary remand so they could transport his client somewhere.
The attorney also requested that the judge instruct the police to release his client’s handcuffs. He stated that only one hand should be handcuffed rather than both.
The judge then noted that the attorney was taking up unnecessary court time with pointless arguments.
Additionally, Fawad’s attorney informed the magistrate that his client’s transitory remand should not be allowed until the outcome of a habeas corpus appeal before the high court.
The magistrate then took a brief break from the hearing.
Fawad is proud of the case.
Fawad declared that he is “proud” of the case that has been filed against him. He made this statement while speaking to the journalists at the court.
“Nelson Mandela dealt with a comparable situation. It’s said that I acted treasonously, “said he.
As a former federal minister and Supreme Court attorney, the PTI leader claimed that he deserves to be treated with respect. he made this claim in court.
Fawad stated, “The way I was arrested was not right.” He added that if the police had called, he would have shown up.
He continued by noting that everything he said about the ECP was being said by everyone in the nation.
