GUJRAT: According to a report early on Wednesday, the police raid the home of former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi.
Under the condition of anonymity, officials said that a sizable police presence invaded Kunjari House, the home of Elahi, and detained the security personnel stationed there.
According to the sources, police used a ladder to force their way inside the house. They searched the house, but then they left.
Police haven’t confirmed or denied the raid yet.
However, Elahi verified it, claiming that the police had searched and bothered his employees.
“We received no information about it. We’ll file a lawsuit to stop the raid on our home “Elahi remarked.
Former principal secretary of Parvez Elahi arrested
Following the conclusion of Elahi’s term as the Punjab CM, numerous past and present officials as well as individuals connected to him are being investigated.
Mohammad Khan Bhatti, a former principal secretary for Elahi, was charged last week with accepting bribes by Punjab’s anti-corruption body.
The Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) charged Bhatti with accepting more than Rs460 million in bribes from employees of the provincial highway department in the first information report (FIR) filed. Rana Muhammad Iqbal of the SDO Highway Police is already detained on suspicion of accepting bribes. ACE has started the process of detaining Bhatti on suspicion of corruption.
According to the FIR, Iqbal paid Bhatti to get positions of his choosing.
