On Friday, famous all-rounder Shahid Afridi’s daughter Ansha and Pakistani sprinter Shaheen Shah Afridi got married.
In Karachi, the nikkah was solemnised in front of close family members from both families at a nearby mosque.
Two years prior, the pair had previously announced their engagement.
Soon after the nikkah, a reception was also organised. Cricketers from Pakistan Babar Azam, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Naseem Shah, and Shadab Khan were among those in attendance, as well as squash star Jahangir Khan.
Wasim Khan, general manager of the ICC, and Asim Saleem Bajwa, former director general of the ISPR, were also present.
The left-armer stated earlier this year on the Geo News programme “Aik Din Geo Kai Sath” that he wished to wed Ansha, Afridi’s daughter.
A blushing Shaheen told the journalist Sohail Warraich, “It was my wish, and Alhumdulillah [thanks to Allah Almighty] it is fulfilled now.
When Shaheen questioned Afridi about whether Ansha is envious of his female fan base, Afridi replied that he wasn’t sure.
The cricketer said, “I’m not sure, maybe she feels something like that.
The broadcaster then questioned Shaheen about hurting many of her female followers by getting engaged so young.
“I found my heart and that’s enough for me,” Shahen remarked at this point.
