Pakistan increase petrol and diesel prices to a historic high

petrol prices: To fulfill IMF requirements and open a crucial $1 billion loan tranche, the Pakistani government has increased the price of petroleum goods once more.

The news was made shortly after a tax-heavy “mini-budget” was presented. The price of gasoline has been raised by the government by Rs22.20 per litre, to Rs272/litre. High-speed fuel now costs Rs280 a litre after a Rs17.20 per litre price rise.

Following a price increase of Rs12.90, kerosene oil is now offered at Rs202.73 per litre. Light diesel oil, meanwhile, will cost Rs196.68 per litre following a hike of Rs9.68.

The revised pricing are effective tonight at midnight.

According to a news release issued on Wednesday evening, the rise was brought on by the rupee’s depreciation versus the dollar.
