Kareena speaks about Black Widow: Kareena Kapoor Khan is excited to play Black Widow from the Avengers in the audio podcast series The Wastelanders after playing several notable characters in Bollywood movies like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Jab We Met. The actor has expressed her excitement about giving the part an Indian flavor.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Deepika Padukone, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are a few Bollywood actresses who have successfully made the switch to Hollywood.
Kareena Kapoor Khan aspires to follow in their footsteps and make a name for herself in the competitive Hollywood sector.
During an interview with the Indian Express, the actress from Laal Singh Chaddha expressed her excitement about playing the role, as she feels a personal connection to the Marvel superhero.
The Wastelanders poses a fresh challenge for Kareena, who has been in the business for more than 20 years, as she would be using only her voice and not any visual signals.
The Black Widow persona, popularly played by Scarlett Johansson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, struck a deep emotional chord with the 42-year-old actress. After hearing the character’s biography and feeling an instant resonance with the part, she eagerly welcomed the opportunity to play the recognizable character in the new audio podcast series, The Wastelanders.
But the Jab We Met actress plans to give the part a particularly Indian spin in the Hindi version of the show, adding an Indian touch to make the character her own. She wants to keep the fierceness that initially drew her to the character while also giving the character a feeling of mystery, power, and intrigue.
She smiled and said no when asked whether she would add a little of her glam Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham character Poo. Kareena cites the audience’s shifting preferences as the reason she has avoided action movies in the past. She thinks that people are more willing to see female actors in roles other than the usual love interests, and she is eager to help the industry make this change.
Khan agrees that, even though Bollywood has produced a lot of action-packed films, it is now appropriate for female performers to play a wider variety of parts, including those requiring action. She claims an interest in playing a spy or an assassin on screen despite not having done it in a full film yet. She thinks that playing Black Widow is a wonderful beginning point in her approach and is convinced that she can give a strong performance.
Saif Ali Khan, Kareena’s husband and fellow performer, plays Star-Lord in the Marvel Audiobook project. Kareena concurs when asked if Bollywood stars are chosen for the Hindi project because of their fandom. She believes that Marvel fans come of all ages, and that a Hindi-language adaptation of the story will appeal to a different demographic. She believes the show will be a huge success and make a significant effect.
