FIR reported in Karachi terror attack: According to News, the city police on Sunday filed a first information report (FIR) into a terrorist attack this week that claimed the lives of four Rangers and a police officer at the Karachi Police Office (KPO).

Khalid Hussain, the Saddar Station House Officer (SHO), filed a complaint, which led to the case’s registration. It contains several parts of the Anti-terrorism Act at the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station as well as the murder and attempted murder sections of the Pakistan Criminal Code (PPC).

The KPO was attacked by a group of terrorists using side-by-side grenade fire around 7:15 p.m., according to the FIR. Police were assisted by security forces in their conflict with the suspects.

Five Tehreek Taliban Pakistan militants, including three who were killed in crossfire, have been named as suspects in the case.

According to the FIR, DIG South Irfan Baloch oversaw the operation.

“Three terrorists were involved in the attack, one of them blew himself up on the third floor of the building, while another was killed during crossfire with the law enforcers on the fourth floor,” the FIR said, adding that the third suspect was also killed at the rooftop. In the course of the operation, four Rangers and police officers perished.

Two terrorists, who were riding a bike, dropped their three accomplices near the Saddar Police Lines and escaped. Five grenades and two suicide vests were seized after the operation.

Moreover, using social media, the TTP claimed responsibility for the attack.”

Probe released

Additionally, a five-person committee was established by the Sindh police on Saturday to look into the attack on the KPO.”

The body was also requested by the law enforcement organisation to monitor the case’s development.

The committee will be headed by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) for the Sindh Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Zulfiqar Ali Larik, and will also include the DIGPs for the Karachi South Zone, the Crime Investigation Agency, the Karachi CTD Operations Senior Superintendent of Police, Tariq Nawaz, and the Karachi CTD Investigation Incharge, Raja Umer Khitab.

However, According to the directive, the chairman could appoint any additional members needed to carry out the probe.
