Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, the Balochistan Minister for Building and Communications, was sent to jail on a 10-day judicial remand on Thursday after a judge rejected the police’s request for a 10-day physical remand.
Prior to it, the minister was presented in court under heavy security. On February 22, 2023, Khetran was taken into custody in connection with the murder of three people.
He was detained in the DIG Police Office in Quetta, according to a police official, when he appeared before the DIG in the afternoon.
According to police, “Khetran is accused of murdering three individuals of the Marri tribe, a woman and her two boys, and that is why he has been brought into jail,” as the demonstrators in Quetta continued to sit in for a second day in a row calling for justice.
Three victims with bullet wounds were discovered in a well in the Barkhan district on Monday, in an extremely appalling event. The deceased’s kin accused the provincial minister of being responsible for the killings.
Khan Mohammed, a local man, reportedly served as Abdul Rehman Khetran’s security in the past. But, after growing dissatisfied with the Sardar, he left Barkhan, but the minister held his family captive.
In a video message, the wife of Khan Mohammad begged for her family’s release from the Khetran private prison. She had previously claimed that Abdul Rehman Khetran often attacked her and her children sexually.
Rescue of Kidnapped Marri Family Members in Balochistan
The security forces earlier on Thursday recovered six members of Khan Muhammad Marri’s family who had been kidnapped from Balochistan’s Barkhan district, including his wife Giran Naz, daughter Farzana, and four sons, Imran, Abdul Hameed, Ghaffar, and Sattar.
The Levies Force saved 19-year-old Abdul Hameed from Daki, while 45-year-old Giran Naz, 18-year-old Farzana, and 12-year-old Imran were rescued from the hilly region of the Sibi range Kohlu. Later, forces also rescued 15-year-old Ghaffar and 11-year-old Sattar.
The girl, whose dead body was discovered in a well during the Barkhan tragedy, has also had her post-mortem performed. Sources claim that the victim who was killed was not Giran Naz, 45, but a 17-year-old girl who has not yet been named, along with two of Mohammad Khan Marri’s sons.
One of the remains discovered in the well, according to police surgeon Dr. Ayesha Faiz, was that of a female between the ages of 17 and 18, who had also been sexually assaulted and tortured. Three bullets were fired on the deceased girl’s head while acid was thrown on the face and neck to hide her identity.
