On Thursday, the authorities in Lahore detained Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, the head of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and a former chief minister of Punjab.

Pervaiz Elahi arrested in Lahore: Days after issuing a non-bailable arrest warrant, the district and sessions court in Lahore took the former chief minister of Punjab into custody.

Court issued the warrant last week based on the request of an investigating officer (IO) who observed that Elahi had been “evading arrest.”

The court dismissed the pre-arrest bail of the accused on May 25 due to non-prosecution, and the accused, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, is not appearing before the court or participating in the inquiry. The court ordered the issuance of non-bailable arrest warrants for accused Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on June 2, 2023, based on the plea of the investigating officer.

The former chief minister of Punjab has been the target of numerous police arrest attempts in recent days.

After an anti-corruption court denied his pre-arrest bail in a case involving irregularities in development projects undertaken during his tenure as the Punjab chief minister, police conducted two raids at his Lahore home on Thursday. However, they were unable to arrest him because he was not present.

Elahi’s attorney, Asim Chaudhry, stated in a previous media interview that the police could only enter his client’s Lahore residence with a search warrant.

He stated that he made the decision to revoke his client’s bail based on a report alleging that the previously submitted medical report by Elahi was fraudulent.

He continued, “We are now contesting the report.

The police have detained several prominent PTI leaders following the riots and attacks on military facilities on May 9.

Pervez Elahi claims to support Imran Khan firmly.

Elahi reiterated his devotion to Imran Khan, the party’s chairman, last week. Elahi declared in a video message that he and his son Monis Elahi would stick by Imran Khan and the PTI.

“Moonis and I are supporting Imran Khan together, but that doesn’t mean we agree with his viewpoint,” Moonis said.

Elahi said that he had created his own institution in the army. “I’ve always attempted to maintain positive relationships with the institution and the legal system. There are just one or the other.

In a related incident, Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s younger brother, stated last month that he would be leaving PTI.

Wajahat stated in a press conference that he and his son, Chaudhry Hussain Elahi, had returned to the party in the hopes that his older brother would welcome them. This was after meeting with his older brother at Muslim League House.

The former PTI leader made this comment without mentioning anyone specifically. “Perhaps, those who created cracks [within the family] are filling it,” he remarked.
