Apple mixed-reality headset to take aim at the metaverse

Apple, based in Cupertino, has been working on the headset for years. Industry analysts anticipate that Apple will unveil costly mixed-reality headgear at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, positioning itself against Meta, the owner of Facebook, in an industry that has not yet gained significant traction.

Apple aims Metaverse: Since introducing the Apple Watch in 2015, the release would be the renowned iPhone manufacturer’s most significant product launch.

According to Wedbush analyst Dan Ives in a note to investors, there is a high likelihood that Apple will use the WWDC stage to highlight a “Reality Pro” headset costing roughly $3,000 (almost P168,000) and specially developed software for the equipment.

Analysts anticipate that Cook will also address the company’s AI strategy, which has garnered attention since startup OpenAI unveiled its product late last year. Furthermore, in line with Apple’s strategy of utilizing high-end hardware to integrate users with its other products and services, AI is expected to have tight synchronization with other Apple gadgets.

It wants early users and developers to use its product so they can begin creating a mixed-reality ecosystem centered around Apple software.

In the Metaverse

Zuckerberg has consistently emphasized Meta’s commitment to creating a future where internet life will occur within the “metaverse” of virtual worlds.

Because of its affordable Quest devices, Meta has been the leading VR maker during the past few years, according to Wurmser.

Despite being a leader in the developing industry, Meta’s experience with the Metaverse has been humble, and many people doubted that Apple would eventually join in.

And less than two years after changing its name to Meta to signify a preference for the Metaverse, the Facebook behemoth has let go of tens of thousands of employees and pledged to return to the fundamentals of social networking.
