Despite the ongoing political and economic unrest, the US has refused to issue travel warnings for Pakistan.
The US denies issuing a travel advisory for Pakistan: The Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) at the US State Department denied issuing a false “travel warning” for Pakistan and explicitly stated that no such warning was issued in June. A fraudulent travel alert, which has been circulating on social media platforms in recent days, advised against using the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) while traveling to Pakistan.
“NICOP should not be used if you fly from the US or Canada to Pakistan. Instead, obtain a Pakistani visa on a US or Canadian passport, advised the phony travel advisory.
We are aware of a circulating false travel alert. The statement continued, reminding everyone that they post all notifications and messages to US citizens in Pakistan on this website.
