Wahab Riaz, a fast bowler for Pakistan and a sports advisor to the Punjab government, has requested permission from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to practice at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) despite his ineligibility to attend the specialized camps.
Wahab Expresses to Join PCB Training Camps: On Monday, Wahab told the media in Lahore that the board had decided not to call him for the bowlers’ specialized camps, which would begin later this month at the NCA.
While at the torch-lighting ceremony for the DC Lahore Young Games 2023, he told reporters, “It is their (PCB’s) choice if they did not invite me to bowlers’ camps.
For the two camps, which will take place from June 10 through 15 (for spinners) and June 16 through 21 (for fast bowlers), the PCB called up 13 spinners and 11 fast bowlers on Friday.
Wahab Riaz continued, “I will continue my bowling practice at the NCA,” and asked the PCB for permission to utilize the space.
The right-arm pacer suggests that the PCB should arrange a bilateral series as a substitute if the Asia Cup 2023 is canceled. He shares his thoughts on the uncertainties surrounding the tournament.
“He suggests that the PCB explore other options and arrange an alternate series if they cancel the Asia Cup.”
Additionally, provided the board has sufficient financial means, the advisor to the temporary chief minister indicated there was no issue with awarding the players separate red and white ball contracts.
It is important to note that PCB first provided the national players with separate red and white-ball contracts last year.
When discussing the DC Lahore Young Games, Wahab stated that the administration hoped to increase the visibility of female athletes through these competitions.
“We will try to organize more and more such events for women in the province, and we will also increase the budget for women’s sports,” he said in conclusion.
