In a meeting with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during a visit to Japan in April, Altman expressed his interest in setting up a local office.
Altman stated on Monday, without going into detail, “All of the conversations have progressed quite well.”
Many consider Japan a laggard in AI services that currently attract consumer interest, despite its major manufacturing players’ significant investments in automation technology.
