Assistant Commissioner Abid Qamar Shaikh Issues Notification for Cancellation/Rescheduling of Examinations and Education-Related Activities

Sindh government cancels all exams: On Tuesday, the Sindh government declared the cancellation of all exams starting from tomorrow (Wednesday) in response to the anticipated landfall of the Very Severe Cyclonic System (VSCS) Biparjoy between Karachi and India’s Gujarat state in two days.

Karachi’s Assistant Commissioner Abid Qamar Shaikh notified them that they might cancel/reschedule all examinations, educational seminars, summer camps, and education-related activities from June 14, 2023, until the storm passes. This measure aims to prevent human casualties and inconvenience to the general public.

The warning stated that the cyclone would probably reach the coastal regions of the Karachi Division and bring storms or torrential rain.

Storm Biparjoy

The system, likely to deliver dust storms, thunderstorms, and heavy rainfall in southern Sindh, is cyclone Biparjoy, less than 400 kilometers from Karachi.

Additionally, The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) stated in a tweet early on Tuesday that the cyclone has reduced from “extreme” to a “Very Severe Cyclonic Storm,” with sustained winds of about 140-150 km/h.

NDMA stated that they could not determine the effects of the developing issue until they further developed the system.
