The prime minister will discuss a wide range of topics, including trade, investment, and energy, with President Ilham Aliyev. There will also be a discussion of regional and global challenges that require cooperation in multilateral forums.
According to the Foreign Office, mutual trust and agreement on regional and global issues have helped to enhance the relationship between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, which is rooted in shared religious, cultural, and historical values.
The statement said that frequent meetings at the top emphasize the goodwill between the two nations and advance broadening diversified cooperation for the benefit of the people of Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
Musadik Malik, the minister of state for petroleum, stated earlier today that the cabinet had access to a contract Pakistan had also obtained from Azerbaijan.
Pakistan Strikes Deal with Azerbaijan for Monthly LNG Supply at Lower Prices
According to the agreement, the Central Asian nation would offer Pakistan distressed LNG cargo everymonthly at a price far less expensive than on the world market.
According to the minister, Pakistan can accept or reject the cargo. In contrast, Azerbaijan must deliver distressed goods every month per the deal’s conditions.
For the first time in over a year, Pakistan has announced two tenders for spot liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes and a contract with Azerbaijan to supply the country with one LNG cargo per month.
At a press conference, Musadik Malik stated Azerbaijan will provide Pakistan with one LNG cargo monthly at a “lower price.”
He confirmed that they had already signed a contract with Azerbaijan, which would “start soon,” but he chose not to disclose further information regarding the supply agreement.
Since the price of LNG increased significantly last year due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and extensive power disruptions, Pakistan has had difficulty obtaining spot cargo of LNG.
Pakistan’s LNG imports decreased from 8.23 million metric tonnes in 2021 to 6.93 million in 2022.
