Spain win UEFA title: Regular time and extra time for either club failed to break the stalemate, hence the winner of the championship game at Rotterdam’s Feyenoord Stadium was decided by penalties.
Croatia scored in the shootout via Nikola Vlasic, Marcelo Brozovic, Luka Modric, and Ivan Perisic.
Unai Simon of Spain stopped penalties from Bruno Petkovic and Lovro Majer.
The scores for Spain were Joselu, Rodri, Mikel Merino, Marco Asensio, and Dani Carvajal.
Aymeric Laporte was the only Spanish shooter to miss a penalty, hitting the crossbar with a strong shot.
Carvajal’s brilliant penalty kick after Petkovic’s misfire gave Spain the victory in the 2023 final.
Spain, the 1964, 2008, and 2012 UEFA EURO champions, added a new UEFA trophy to their collection.
For the first time, a Spanish team won the Nations League.
Croatia received a silver medal and brought it home.
The Nations League, a biannual international football tournament run by UEFA, was first won by Portugal in 2019 and France in 2021.
