Pep Guardiola stated that Manchester City would not pursue Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain.

Speaking at the Legends Trophy competition in his native Emporda, Catalonia, Guardiola also claimed that City and his old team Barcelona were in a battle over midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

Guardiola wants the German midfielder to stay with City even though his contract has expired, but Barcelona is attempting to entice him to La Liga.

“I know that Barcelona are interested — and City are too,” claimed Guardiola, whose team won an unprecedented triple of the Champions League, Premier League, and FA Cup last season.

“I’m hoping he sticks around. It would be an incredible signing if he joined Barca. We are battling to keep him here.

“I am aware that Xavi has repeatedly phoned him and that Barca wants him. I’ll assure him that he will have a terrific experience at Barca if he signs with them.
