The Lahore High Court granted protective bail to Imran Khan, the former prime minister and head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in a case related to the death of a lawyer in Quetta, until July 3.

LHC grants protective bail to PTI chairman: Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Muhammad Amjad Rafiq made up the two-person LHC bench that considered Imran Khan’s petition for bail in the murder case.

Along with other people, the PTI chairman arrived in court with the assistance of his attorney, Ishtiaq Khan.

On June 7, the authorities charged Imran Khan as the primary suspect in the killing of renowned Supreme Court attorney Abdul Raazaq Shar.

Siraj Ahmad Advocate, the victim’s son, reported the incident to the Shaheed Jameel Kakar police station.

During the hearing, the attorney of the former prime minister stated that the Shaheed Jameel Kakar police station in Quetta had filed a FIR against his client under sections 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (7ATA).

He read the FIR before the bench and expressed concerns about the PTI chairman’s security.

He expressed his concern about the police detaining him despite his eagerness to appear before the appropriate court as the PTI leader. Therefore, the petitioner asked the court to set a protective bail.

The PTI leader might contact the appropriate forum, according to the lawyer representing the Punjab government.

After hearing the arguments from both parties, the court granted the PTI chairman protective bail until July 3.

A Quetta anti-terrorism court issued an arrest warrant for the PTI leader on June 15 in connection with the slaying of attorney Abdul Raazaq Shar.

On Quetta’s Airport Road, unidentified guys on a motorbike opened fire at the lawyer with a 9mm pistol, killing him. Seven of the 16 shots that were fired at him landed in his head.
