The Lahore High Court (LHC) granted protective bail to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman in the Layyah land corruption case on Friday.
PTI chairman gets bail in Layyah case: The LHC judge granted protective bail to the former prime minister until June 26.
The Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) previously summoned the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the third time regarding the Layyah land fraud on June 22, but he did not appear.
The PTI head failed to appear for the third time as summoned by the ACE, according to the spokesperson.
Earlier, on June 19, ACE had summoned the PTI leader. He received the first summons instructing him to appear on June 16.
The case
ACE filed a Layyah land corruption lawsuit naming Imran’s sister, Dr. Uzma Khan, and her husband, Ahad Majeed, as defendants. The lawsuit alleged their involvement in fraudulent activities related to the acquisition of land. They initiated legal proceedings against them, marking a significant development in the case.
However, Dr. Uzma stands accused of fraudulent activities, involving a payment of approximately Rs130 million for 5,261 kanals of land in Layyah district. The land is claimed to have a value in billions of rupees.
