After mutinous Wagner mercenaries tried to storm the Russian capital on Saturday, a “anti-terrorist operation regime” was still in place in Moscow on Sunday, posing a serious security danger to President Vladimir Putin.
Moscow security measures still in place: On Saturday, the Kremlin stated that Alexander Lukashenko of Minsk will transport Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner uprising, to Belarus.
On Sunday, Moscow announced that they would dismiss the “armed rebellion” accusations against Prigozhin and his soldiers, even though his whereabouts were unknown.
Prigozhin has not yet specified when he will depart his nation for Kremlin-aligned Belarus. On Saturday, Prigozhin was informing the public on Wagner’s rebellion via audio messages on Telegram.
On Saturday, as it appeared that Prigozhin’s men were making progress towards the city, authorities in Moscow established an anti-terrorist regime. Authorities urged citizens to minimise their travel.
Moscow’s officials stated that they will continue the day off from work, which they instituted on Monday to restrict movement throughout the city, due to security concerns.
Traffic returned to normal in the southern city of Rostov-on-Don late on Saturday after Wagner fighters took control of the main army headquarters there, according to Russian state media.
It displayed employees removing debris from streets in front of military headquarters and the gates of the neighbourhood circus, where a tank had become trapped the day before.
On Saturday, the authorities in the Kaluga region, south of Moscow, initiated the process of lifting the road restrictions that had been imposed to suppress the Wagner uprising.
Emergency services in the southern city of Voronezh extinguished an enormous fire at an oil depot that had been burning during mutiny. The army, which had claimed to be leading “combat” the day before, was responsible for putting out fire.
Images on social media showed a sizable black smoke cloud, although authorities had not yet disclosed what started fire. Before there was an explosion, according to some Russian media, chopper was reportedly present.
