An accountability court in Lahore exonerated Nawaz Sharif, the head of the PML-N, in a case related to the alleged unauthorized allotment of properties in 1986.
Nawaz victimised unfreezes assets: On June 24, the accountability court cleared Nawaz Sharif, a former prime minister, in the plots allotment reference case. After hearing arguments from the PML-N supremo’s legal counsel, accountability judge Rao Abdul Jabbar delivered the decision.
The accountability court noted in its comprehensive decision today that the PML-N leader had “become the victim of political victimisation” in the case.
Judge Jabbar stated in his thorough decision that the authorities had not taken the required steps to designate Nawaz as a proclaimed criminal.
Further, The verdict states that the court’s decision to declare Nawaz a proclaimed offender in the case did not align with the parameters settled and followed by the apex court.
Additionally, The AC judge also instructed NAB and revenue officials to release Nawaz and the case’s applicants’ property.
The mention
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had claimed that the former prime minister, while serving as the chief minister of Punjab, had fraudulently awarded 54 plots, each measuring one kanal, in Block-H, Johar Town.
However, It claimed that by allocating the land, the accused caused a loss of Rs143m to the national exchequer.
