The Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore has granted temporary release to Fawad Chaudhry, a well-known politician and former federal minister, in the May 9 riots case.
Fawad Chaudhry gets interim bail: In two cases, including the case involving the May 9 riots, the ATC granted interim release to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry until August 8.
The court’s ruling relieved Fawad Chaudhry as it prevented the police from detaining him. He is temporarily protected from detention by the interim bail until August 8.
The court has ordered Fawad Chaudhry to provide a surety bond in the amount of Rs 100,000 for each case as part of the bail requirements.

Violent confrontations broke out all over Pakistan after authorities took former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan into custody at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday.
The detention of their chairman sparked party workers’ agitation, prompting them to organize rallies in both remote and populous places. Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad called in the armed forces to maintain peace and order.
During a PTI worker protest, the Corps Commander’s home and army installations in Lahore came under attack.
Additionally, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Ali Nasir Rizvi suffered serious injuries while clearing the area, as stated.
