The former prime minister and PTI leader sought temporary bail in seven cases with terrorism-related accusations against him in Punjab, but the Lahore High Court (LHC) denied the request on Tuesday.
LHC rejects interim bail PTI Chairman: Seven ATA complaints against the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf are pending in Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, and other cities. The former prime minister’s temporary bail was denied in seven cases by the Lahore High Court after the court upheld the registrar’s office arguments.
The LHC registrar’s office objected, mentioning that the PTI leader had not contacted any of the relevant courts before approaching the high court.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and Fawad Chaudhry were the targets of non-bailable arrest warrants earlier in the day by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), which was investigating allegations of electoral body contempt.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) sent notices to the former prime minister and PTI leader in August 2022 for allegedly using “intemperate” language against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikander Sultan Raja and the electoral body.
In their repeated criticisms of the commission and CEC Sikandar Raja, Fawad Chaudhry, Asad Umar, and the PTI leader referred to the electoral body as a “subsidiary of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.”
