The Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted protective bail to Asad Qaiser, a key leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and a former speaker of the National Assembly, in a “corruption” case filed against him in Swabi on Monday.

Asad Qaiser gets protective bail: Qaiser went before Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri of the Islamabad High Court with his attorney to request protective bail.

After granting Qaiser protective bail in exchange for a surety bond in the amount of Rs. 50,000, an IHC single bench ordered him to appear before the appropriate court.

The Anti-Corruption Department has reportedly detained several leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for allegedly making illegitimate appointments in the Education Department during the party’s tenure in power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, former provincial education minister Shahram Khan Tarakai, former chief minister of industry Abdul Karim, then-MPAs Aqibullah Khan (Asad Qaiser’s brother), Rangraiz Khan, and representatives of the district education department were among those arrested.

Reputable sources within the Swabi Education Department obtained information on illegal recruitments during the previous PTI regimes by members of the national and KP parliament, according to the FIR. This act robbed the genuine educated youth of their rights.
