General Michael Erik Kurilla, the commander of US Central Command (Centcom), met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Syed Asim Munir on Monday at Pakistan Army General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
Asim Munir Centcom chief discuss regional security: The Centcom commander and the army leader conducted a one-on-one meeting, the military’s media branch reported.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that they covered topics of mutual interest, the state of regional security, and defense cooperation during the meeting.
Both parties noted that they reiterated the desire to further enhance bilateral relations in all fields.
The ISPR added that the visiting dignitary recognised and praised Pakistan’s continuous efforts to bring peace and stability to the region as well as the Pakistan Army’s victories in the battle against terrorism.
General Kurilla, commander of Centcom, has travelled to South Asia twice; the first time was in December of last year, following a change in the army’s command.
The Pakistan Army’s senior brass met with General Kurilla at a delegation level at the previous encounter to discuss issues of mutual interest, regional stability, security cooperation, and military connections.
