Asif calls PTI female parliamentarians garbage on assembly floor

Khawaja Asif, the defence minister, came under fire once more for his disparaging statements about the PTI’s female lawmakers.

Asif calls PTI female garbage: “They [the PTI women] are abandoned ruins. They are discarde materials. The leftover trash from [PTI] needs to be cleaned up, he stated on Tuesday in Islamabad during a joint session of the Parliament.

The PTI lawmakers objected to Asif’s comments because Senator Dr. Zarqa Taimur called it “shocking” that an experienced politician would disparage other female lawmakers in such a way.

The NA Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf swiftly removed the phrase when PTI’s female lawmakers complained against it and asked him to do so.

The minister has already drawn criticism for referring to former PTI leader Shireen Mazari as a “tractor trolley” during a National Assembly session.

On June 8, 2016, Asif stated during a debate in the lower house of Parliament, “Someone should keep this tractor trolley quiet.” Asif was pointing at Mazari. The minister continued by requesting that the former PTI chief change her “masculine voice into a more feminine one.”

Anchorperson Absa Komal tweeted that Asif has a history of making disparaging remarks against female legislators. These comments were made on the floor of the house.

The minister reportedly said, “These characterless women cannot lecture us,” according to Komal. It says a lot about a man’s fearlessness if he requires women to defend him.

PTI senator Fawzia Arshad tweeted, “Asif’s comparison of the PTI lawmakers to trash proves that this person owns a very degenerate thought.”

She wrote, “Khawaja Asif has previously used derogatory language towards women.

Journalist Muqadas Farooq Awan urged female journalists to refrain from covering Asif in the media.

The tweet read, “Women journalists should shun Khawaja Asif’s media since he may throw similar flowers about us tomorrow. This is not the first time Khawaja Asif has used inappropriate language regarding women.
