Ali Muhammad Khan, the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was freed from prison on Thursday.
Ali Muhammad Khan released: “After spending 80 days in jail, dealing with 8 arrests, and bogus cases, our Ali Muhammad Khan is finally out of jail,” PTI’s official Twitter account wrote.
The release follows the Peshawar High Court’s (PHC) earlier today’s order.
The court detained the PTI leader under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) statute but subsequently granted him bail. The decision came after due consideration of the case. Following the bail grant, the leader was released from custody. The court’s ruling reflects its examination of the circumstances and evidence surrounding the case, leading to the grant of bail to the PTI leader.
A two-member court, comprising of Justices Ijaz Anwar and Fazal Subhan, ordered the release of Ali Muhammad Khan after hearing his appeal.
The court’s action extended to summoning the deputy commissioner of Mardan to attend the next hearing on August 8. The requirement for their presence is part of the ongoing proceedings in the case. The summon comes after the court granted bail to the PTI leader, who had been detained under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) statute.
It’s important to note that this was Ali Muhammad Khan’s eighth arrest attempt.
