Just one month after releasing the World Cup schedule, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hinted at the possibility of altering some of the games’ dates.
BCCI considers rescheduling World Cup: Board president Roger Binny presided over the meeting of the World Cup staging associations, and all the host affiliate representatives, along with secretary Jay Shah and other office holders, were present.
Notably, Shah avoided to comment on the rumoured decision to postpone the eagerly anticipated India-Pakistan encounter scheduled for October 15.
India’s 2023 World Cup schedule
After Ahmedabad Police reportedly acknowledged its inability to provide appropriate protection during the India-Pakistan match on October 15, the first day of the sacred Navratri festival, rumours about the potential change of schedule started to circulate.
Given the size of the celebrations in the state, it would be difficult for the men in uniform to secure the safety of everyone involved while also overseeing the high-profile game.
Shah was adamant that no venue change was even under consideration. In order to eliminate the atypical gaps between two matches featuring specific teams, we considered the potential of modifying the dates of a few matches at the request of three full members of the ICC.
However, In a few days, the situation will become evident, according to Shah.
