Fawad Chaudhry, a former federal minister, voiced his worries about the country’s escalating political climate, saying it was unfit for holding elections.

Fawad submits written apology to ECP: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) received a written apology from Mr. Fawad in a contempt case after he physically appeared before the ECP.

The chief election commissioner condemned Chaudhry for his use of language in his apology in reaction to his remarks. The Election Commission warned that they would pursue the show cause notice if a proper apology was not given. But the commission will choose the course of action after studying the letter of apology.

Advocate Faisal Chaudhry asked acceptance of the apology and asserted during the hearing that the problems at hand were technological. The Election Commission then postponed the hearing until August 15.

Fawad Chaudhry addressed the media after the hearing and emphasised the need to address the nation’s current “bitterness” in his remarks. He questioned the use of conducting elections in such a situation and urged the establishment of a Majlis-i-Shura in its place. Chaudhry added that for elections to be successful, it was essential to lessen the hostility among party officials like PTI Chairman, the establishment, and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. To promote harmony and collaboration, he suggested drafting a democratic charter.

Chaudhry bemoaned the situation of Pakistan’s democracy and elections at the moment, highlighting the necessity of normalising the nation before beginning any electoral processes. In order to support a positive electoral process in Pakistan, he stressed the urgent necessity to stop the continuing tensions and animosity.
