Turkiye was once again extended an offer to join the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on Wednesday by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who described it as a “natural partner”.
Shehbaz invites Turkiye to join CPEC: At the Karachi Shipyard, where Turkiye Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz was also present, the premier was speaking as the fourth Milgem class corvette was being launched.
The premier had encouraged Turkiye to join CPEC in November of last year in an effort to boost regional wealth, reduce poverty, and give people more power through improved infrastructure for healthcare and education.
He had suggested making the CPEC a “trilateral arrangement” between China, Pakistan, and Turkey months ago so that all three countries might profit from its potential.
In his remarks at the ceremony in Karachi today, the prime minister noted that while Port Qasim was a centre, a connection to Gwadar, where activity had “just started,” was necessary.
The PM declared, “CPEC is a roaring success,” noting that Pakistan and China had just decided to begin the project’s second phase.
Turkiye is a natural partner since “this will be in numerous directions […] and this is certain to expand the amount of business transactions by land and sea between China and Pakistan.
Shehbaz remarked, “I would want to reiterate this offer that allows us to join forces in this magnificent story of mutual, collaborative success and prosperity.
At the opening of his speech, the premier asserted that the two nations have “deep-rooted and historic” relations.
“We share our viewpoints on local and international concerns because we have a shared faith, heritage, and civilisation. He remarke that relations between our two nations go back before Pakistan was founde.
PM Shehbaz Stresses Strengthening Strategic Cooperation with Turkiye During President Erdogan’s Visit
The premier spoke about President Tayyip Erdogan’s visit during the 2010 floods and added, “We celebrate each other’s success stories and stand together in the face of challenges.”
Turkiye also supported Pakistan during the disastrous floods last year, according to PM Shehbaz, who added that it was “very valuable and timely help.”
He claimed that the deployment of the battleship was just another illustration of the nations’ dedication to fostering bilateral commerce, industry, and economic cooperation.
It’s high time, he continued, “that we strengthen our strategic cooperation even more and expand upon this wonderful joint venture in many other fields.”
