Malaysian ex-PM Mahathir in hospital for ‘observation’

Kuala Lumpur’s National Heart Institute (IJN) has admitted Mahathir Mohamad, a former Malaysian prime minister.

Mahathir in hospital for observation: On Thursday (Aug. 3), his official Facebook page released two pictures showing him looking through some files at the ward.

Thursday at his medical ward at the Institut Jantung Negara, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad was writing and looking through some documents. “It stated that Dr. Mahathir was hospitalized and given infection treatment on Tuesday.”

On condition of anonymity and without providing any information, a person close to the former prime minister stated, “He is fine and is under observation.”

According to a second official close to him, Mahathir is not in any kind of danger and is receiving treatment for an infection.

In addition, The 98-year-old former leader, who held the position twice for a total of 24 years, is one of Malaysia’s most influential political personalities.

However, Mahathir spent several days in the hospital in December 2021 and January 2022 for medical examinations.

Over the years, he has experienced several heart issues, including several heart attacks and bypass surgery.

Additionally, From 1981 to 2003, Mahathir served as the prime minister of Malaysia. Further, At the age of 92, he took the helm of a coalition that was pro-reform in 2018.

In 2020, internal conflict led to the fall of that administration.

Despite his defeat in the general election of 2022, he has joined forces with political parties with Malay roots in an effort to overthrow the present administration of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
