ECP strip PTI chairman of party’s chairmanship: According to sources, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had a significant meeting where it resolved to remove PTI leader Imran Khan from his position as party leader.

The commission reviewed the circumstances following the arrest of the PTI president as Sikandar Sultan Raja, the chief election commissioner (CEC), presided.

The conference discussed the written judgment of Islamabad’s session court, which had found him guilty of “corrupt practices” in the Toshakhana case.

Later, authorities found Imran Khan guilty and determined that he was no longer eligible to continue serving as the PTI chairman. As a result, the ECP will now issue orders removing him from his position.

According to sources, the electoral watchdog will soon make a formal announcement.

Arrest of Imran Khan

“Following his conviction of ‘corrupt practices’ in the Toshakhana case and a subsequent three-year prison sentence, authorities detained Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan from his Zaman Park mansion in Lahore earlier today.”

PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi confirmed the arrest of the PTI chairman in the Toshakhana case.

Confirming the reports, the Punjab Chapter of PTI tweeted that they had sent Imran Khan to Kot Lakhpat Jail.

The result

Today, the District and Sessions Court sentenced the PTI chairman to a three-year prison term in the Toshakhana criminal case.

The court, in its ruling, declared the accused guilty of participating in corrupt behavior and sentenced the PTI chairman to three years in prison.

Imran Khan “is found guilty of corrupt practises” and “deliberately submitted fake details [of Toshakhana gifts] to the ECP,” he claimed.

The court imposed a Rs 100,000 fine on the guilty PTI head and also declared him ineligible to hold public office for five years. The court also rendered the former prime minister unable to hold public office for the same five-year period.

A sizable police presence was present outside the courthouse prior to today’s hearings.
