Zeekr 001 FR: China’s Zeekr Makes Strides into High-End Electric Sports Car Market

China EV brand launch sports car: China’s Zeekr, a Geely Automobile subsidiary and a rising star in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, has declared its entry into the market for high-end sports cars. Soon, Zeekr will unveil the Zeekr 001 FR, its first high-end sports car, featuring a starting price exceeding 1 million yuan (about $140,000).

The firm is aiming to produce the first batch of vehicles this year, with the Zeekr 001 FR expected to make its market debut in the upcoming weeks. This move is in response to various Chinese EV producers striving to develop more commercially viable products amidst the intense pricing rivalry initiated by Tesla earlier this year.

To achieve better profit margins, there is also a trend where some manufacturers focus on the high-performance EV market segment. With their premium labels, other Chinese automakers like BYD have also entered the luxury market with electric vehicles.

Founded in 2021, Zeekr, a luxury EV brand, has already introduced three models designed to cater to different price points within the Chinese EV market. The company hopes to enter the premium market segment and compete with other high-end electric sports vehicles with the release of the Zeekr 001 FR.
