The departing prime minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that his brother and party leader Nawaz Sharif would be returning to Pakistan in the upcoming month. This decision comes as political parties in the nation gear up for election campaigns, even though there are concerns about the potential postponement of the general elections.

Nawaz Sharif return Pakistan next month: During an interview with Hamid Mir, host of GEO News’ Capital Talk program, the outgoing prime minister announce that he intends to travel to London to visit his elder brother as soon as the caretaker government is establishe and assumes power.

Shehbaz stated, “Nawaz Sharif will come to Pakistan next month and will face the law and lead the election campaign,” but he did not provide a specific date. Nawaz has been living in self-imposed exile in London since November 2019, when he was granted bail and travelled there for medical care. He has been living there since.

For an instance of corruption, the elder Sharif had been serving a seven-year term. After receiving an immune system illness diagnosis, he took an air ambulance to London.

The Supreme Court dismissed Nawaz from the prime minister’s office in 2016 and permanently barred him for “concealing assets.” In the wake of the Panama Papers leak, the National Accountability Bureau pronounced the PML-N leader guilty in the Al-Azizia and Aveinfield Apartment references.

Wednesday saw the premature dissolution of Pakistan’s National Assembly after President Dr. Arif Alvi gave his approval shortly after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif forwarded the report.

On Thursday, the younger Sharif met with Raja Riaz, the head of the opposition, to explore potential names for the caretaker arrangement.

After the meeting, Riaz claimed that a “positive environment” was present.

The two will get together once more the next day, on Friday, to decide on the temporary prime minister’s name, according to PTV.
