Zuckerberg and Musk throw verbal jabs over proposed cage match

Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, two billionaires and rivals in the social media industry, traded additional online barbs on Sunday, with the inventor of Meta claiming that the owner of X, formerly known as Twitter, was not taking a suggested charity cage battle seriously.

Zuckerberg and Musk verbal jabs: On his social media platform Threads, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said, “I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on.”

Musk answered right away on X, the website he acquired last year and which was once known as Twitter.

Musk wrote on Twitter, “Zuck is a chicken.”

Musk made a reference to a well-known US fast food establishment famed for its chicken selections in response to an X user who said Zuckerberg was having second thoughts about the match.

Musk wrote on Twitter, “He can’t eat at Chick-fil-A because that would be cannibalism.

On social media, the two tech titans have debated facing off in a highly publicised charity match.

Musk announced the fight’s location on Friday as Italian officials acknowledged discussions about hosting a “great charity event.”

Musk wrote, “I spoke to the PM of Italy and Minister of Culture,” alluding to Giorgia Meloni, the Italian Prime Minister. They have chosen an amazing spot.

In retaliation, Zuckerberg published a picture of himself in his “backyard octagon” grappling with a foe while not wearing a shirt.

Involved in jiujitsu contests and a fan of martial arts, Zuckerberg declared, “I love this sport and I’ve been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me.”

“You’ll hear it from me if he ever accepts an actual date. Please take whatever he says till then as unconfirmed.

Despite stating that any match “will not be held in Rome,” Italian Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano acknowledged meeting with Musk about “how to organise a great charity event evoking history.”

Any Musk-hosted event, according to Sangiuliano, would raise “a huge sum, many millions of euros, (that) will be donated to two significant paediatric hospitals in Italy.”

The two internet titans, who had previously sparred from a distance, are now direct rivals thanks to Zuckerberg’s Meta’s July 1 launch of its platform called Threads, which is similar to Twitter.

Musk mentioned on Friday that he might require “minor surgery” to address a “problem with my right shoulder blade rubbing against my ribs.”

It will just take a few months for recovery, he noted.

The richest man in the world has a titanium plate holding two vertebrae together, but he claimed on Friday that it is now “not an issue.”
