Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was denied bail in three instances on Tuesday by an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad after he was unable to appear in court. Khan is now behind bars for crimes involving the sale of state gifts.

Imran Khan’s bail plea rejected: Judge Abul Hassan of the Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad announced the reserved decisions in three instances and denied Khan’s bail requests after he failed to appear in court.

Despite the PTI leader’s appeals for bail, an ATC in Lahore rejected them in seven cases tied to the events of May. The decision was underpinned by the provided justification, highlighting the court’s stance on the matter.


Following Khan’s detention on May 9 in a corruption case, violent protests erupted. Attacks on government and military facilities occurred there. The PTI leader has received blame from the government for these assaults.

On August 5, authorities detained PTI Chairman Khan outside his Lahore home, following a three-year prison sentence and a five-year disqualification in the Toshakhana criminal case.

A district and sessions court in Islamabad found Khan guilty of “corrupt practices” and subsequently sentenced him to prison.
