IHC fixes plea against Imran khan’s indictment in Toshakhana case

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) charged the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Supremo Imran in the Toshakhana criminal case and scheduled a hearing date for a petition challenging the charge on Wednesday.

IHC fixes plea against Imran indictment: A two-person bench, led by Chief Justice Aamir Farooq and including Justice Tariq Jahangiri, will hear the matter on August 22.

As part of its proceedings, the court issued notices to the nominated parties and concurrently requested an extensive record of the Toshakhana case trial. This step highlights the court’s thorough approach in ensuring a comprehensive review of the case. The requested record will likely contribute to a well-informed and fair evaluation of the matter.

Additionally, Punjab police detained Mr. Khan in the afternoon from his Zaman Park property in Lahore after an Islamabad trial court found him guilty of “corrupt practises” in the Toshakhana case and sentenced him to three years in prison on August 5.

However, “In the order, Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Humayun Dilawar stated that the court finds the complainant (ECP) had provided confidence-inspiring, well-knitted, and corroborated evidence. As a result, the court has successfully proven the charge against the accused for committing the offense of corrupt practices by making and publishing false statements/declarations in respect of assets acquired by way of gifts from Toshakhana and disposing of those assets,” said Judge Humayun Dilawar.
