Saudi oil exports fall for third month running

The Joint Organisations Data Initiative (JODI), Saudi Arabia’s crude oil exports decreased for a third consecutive month in June, reaching its lowest level since September 2021.

Saudi oil exports fall: In June, the kingdom exported 6.8 million barrels of petroleum per day (bpd), a decrease of around 1.8% from the 6.93 million bpd in May.

The Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and Riyadh give the JODI with monthly export numbers, which it then posts on its website.

As stockpiles increased by 1.45 million barrels to 149.69 million, Saudi Arabia’s crude production in June barely changed from the previous month at 9.96 million bpd.

While direct crude burn increased by 65,000 bpd to 543,000 bpd, domestic refineries processed 28,000 bpd less petroleum in June than in May at 2.56 million bpd.

Exports of petroleum products dropped 26,000 bpd from May to June, reaching 1.35 million bpd.

This month, Saudi Arabia said that it would prolong a voluntary 1 million bpd decrease in oil production for a third month, to cover September. The country also acknowledge that the reduction could potentially be tightene or extended further.

After declaring an extended production cut, the monarchy increased the pricing for the majority of its crude sent to Asia in September.
