The military has detained six Indian nationals in Pakistan for attempting to smuggle goods across the border.

Rangers arrest Indian in Pakistani territory: From July 29 to August 3, 2023, Pakistan Rangers forces stationed along the border with India detained six Indian individuals who had entered Pakistani territory.

According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), these smugglers/criminals were attempting to import drugs, firearms, and ammunition into Pakistan.

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) continuously monitors the strongly fortified border, therefore it is astonishing that these traffickers were able to cross it.

It demonstrates the likelihood that BSF soldiers participated in the smuggling of weapons and drugs. The statement further highlighted the surprising fact that Indian BSF personnel have not yet reported the disappearance of the six citizens.

Four smugglers—Gurmeej son of Guldeep Singh, Shinder son of Bhora Singh, Juginder son of Thakur Singh, Vishal son of Jagga, Rattan Pal son of Mahinder Singh, and Garvender son of Mukhtiar Singh—belong to Ferozpur, Jalandhar, and Ludhiana, respectively.

The ISPR stated that they would handle these Indian traffickers in accordance with the law due to their violation of Pakistani immigration laws and involvement in criminal activity.

It further stated that Pakistan’s security forces would continue to be on guard and that they expected the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to conduct themselves properly and cut any ties to smuggling networks operating out of Indian territory.
