Warner Bros Discovery announced that CNN Max, a 24-hour news streaming service, would debut in the US on September 27.

Warner Bros launch CNN in US: CNN Max will utilize the news network’s global reporting resources and provide new original programming such as “CNN Newsroom with Jim Acosta, Rahel Solomon, Amara Walker, and Fredricka Whitfield.”

CNN Max will also try to set itself apart from the short-lived CNN+ streaming service, which debuted in March 2022 and focused lifestyle programmes, by focusing on the immediacy of breaking news and commentary.

Warner Bros Discovery, the company that owns CNN, has been aiming to improve the amount of time users spend on its Max streaming service. To do this, it supplements its HBO scripted series with Discovery’s reality shows.

Breaking news and commentary would further expand Max’s programming, allowing CNN to connect with a younger streaming audience.

CNN’s ratings have been declining despite its efforts to increase its Republican viewership. According to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence, its profit declined below $1 billion in 2022 and is predicted to be slightly higher this year than last, at $938.6 million. These projections apply to all CNN networks that are available in the US, including CNN International and CNN en Espaol.

According to Nielsen figures for June, CNN’s prime time and overall daytime audiences dropped behind Fox and MSNBC.

U.S. users will gain access to live news as well as the current original programmes like “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” and “Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy” through the renamed CNN Max hub, which is a part of the Max service.
