The Lahore High Court (LHC) declared that the election for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman will take place in the upcoming week.
PCB chairman’s election next week LHC: The Lahore High Court (LHC) examined a petition that requested the removal of Zaka Ashraf from his position as the head of the PCB management committee.
During the hearing, the court inquired Zaka Ashraf’s attorney about the date of the PCB chairman election.
Ashraf’s attorney state to the court that the PCB chairman elections were schedule for the following week, and they would provide the court with the election timetable during that week.
The LHC adjourned the hearing and sent notifications to the secretary of the ECP and the federal government.
On Tuesday, the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination formally requested the dismissal of Zaka Ashraf from his role as Chairman of the Management Committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The basis for this request was his appointment being deemed political in nature.
The Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination has written a letter to Anwaarul Haq Kakar, Principal Secretary to the interim Prime Minister (PM), requesting the removal of Zaka Ashraf from his position as Chairman of the PCB Management Committee.
The letter indicated that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued a notice which stated: “To ensure immediate termination of services of all heads of institutions appointed on political basis and to send all such cases to the commission for approval of termination or otherwise.”
The government also requested the resignation of Peer Syed Ahmed Nawaz Shah, who was serving as the head of the Federal Land Commission.
On July 6, it’s noteworthy that Zaka Ashraf, supported by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), assumed the leadership of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee.
