Turkey’s ruling AK Party, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will shortly travel to Russia to discuss the failed UN agreement that had permitted the shipping of grain from Ukraine to the Black Sea.
Erdogan visit Russia ‘soon’: “After this visit, there may be developments, and we may reach new stages regarding the grain agreement,” he said. In order to resume the arrangement, under which Odesa’s seaports exported tens of millions of tonnes of grain, Ankara is attempting to persuade Russia.
Russian forces have used volleys of missiles and kamikaze drones to attack Ukrainian ports since the grain export agreement fell through.
Erdogan will “soon” travel to the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi, according to AK Party spokesperson Omer Celik, but he did not say if he will meet with Vladimir Putin.
He stated that “following this visit, there might be advancements and potential progress in relation to” the grain agreement.
There is an agreement that the two leaders will soon meet in person, according to the Kremlin on Friday.
According to two unnamed sources quoted by Bloomberg, Erdogan is planning to meet Putin in Russia next week, possibly on September 8, before heading to a G20 summit in India.
