A special court hearing cases under the Official Secrets Act extended the bail granted to former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secretary general Asad Umar in the cypher case.
Asad Umar’s bail extended: Asad Umar arrived before Judge Abu Al-Hasnat Zulqarnain’s court alongside his attorney, Babar Awan. The special court extended Asad Umar’s bail till September 14.
Asad Umar said that cypher is a confidential document that cannot leave the foreign office in a statement he made following the prolongation of his bail.
The Federal Investigation Agency has received the former prime minister’s comment about the cypher.
Allegedly, authorities detained Asad Umar in a cyber investigation last Tuesday. However, he denied the reports and appeared to seek bail in the case after party officials were detained.
Earlier, authorities had detained Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the former foreign minister and vice chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), at his Islamabad home.
Authorities detained Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the vice chairman of the PTI, in relation to the Cypher case and subsequently transferred him to the FIA’s main office.
It is important to note that Azam Khan, a former principal secretary to the PTI chairman and former prime minister, made shocking claims and asserted that the former PM used US cypher for his ‘political benefits’ and to avert a motion of no-confidence against him.
