Hours after an anti-terrorism court (ATC) ordered his release, authorities re-arrested Haleem Adil Sheikh, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), outside the Karachi ATC.
Haleem Adil Sheikh re-arrested: Yesterday, authorities detained the PTI leader outside the Sindh High Court (SHC), and today, they brought him before the Karachi ATC.
The ATC denied the police’s request for a physical remand of the former Sindh opposition leader during the hearing.
The PTI Sindh branch president must be released right away, the court said, rejecting the police’s request.
But soon after his release, Sindh police detained Sheikh in connection with another crime.
Outside the Sindh High Court (SHC), authorities detained Haleem Adil Sheikh, the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
Upon his arrival at the Sindh High Court (SHC) to seek bail in the vandalism case, authorities detained Sheikh, the former opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly. Sheikh vanished following the vandalism on May 9.
The police were seeking Sheikh in connection with the violence that occurred on May 9.
One of the few PTI leaders who hasn’t left the group is Sheikh.
Earlier in the day, Haleem Adil Sheikh petitioned the Sindh High Court to overturn the non-bailable arrest warrants issued by a Hyderabad anti-terrorism court in the May 9 mayhem case.
Sheikh insisted that the Sindh High Court had also forbade the authorities from detaining him in any circumstance and that the Peshawar High Court (PHC) had granted him a protected bail.
