The beginning of the three-day annual Urs celebrations of the famous Sufi Saint Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai (RA) at the Sindh province’s Bhitshah.

Urs celebrations of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori will inaugurate the three-day celebrations of the 280th Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai (RA), and interim Chief Minister Maqbool Baqir of Sindh will participate in the closing rituals.

To attend the Urs of the great Sindhi poet, many devotees are travelling to Bhitshah.

An official leaflet stated that the reason for the three-year hiatus in Urs Mubarak celebrations was the covid epidemic and the flooding scenario.

The authorities have designated Dr. Mazhar Ali, the Assistant Commissioner of Hala, as the focal person for the Urs celebrations, while Additional Deputy Commissioner Manzoor Laghari will be responsible for overseeing the arrangements during the three days of Urs. Deputy Commissioner Matiari Syed Jawad Muzaffar issued instructions to all the departments to make all necessary arrangements for clean drinking water, sanitation, and medical facilities for the devotees as well as to deal with any possible untoward situation.

They have installed 52 closed-circuit cameras and 8 walkthrough gates around the shrine to closely monitor anti-peace elements. Additionally, the district administration has enforced Section 144 in the town, prohibiting the display of weapons to ensure the safety of devotees participating from across the country.


SSP Matiari Muhammad Kaleem directed the separation of Bhit Shah Town into three sectors and the deployment of up to 2561 police officers. They assigned female police officers tasks to perform thorough searches on anyone entering the shrine.

Officials state that they will deploy policemen from special branches and law enforcement organizations there, in addition to police officers from neighboring districts.

Dr. Nazir Malah, the District Health Officer (DHO), announced that doctors’ and paramedical staff’s holidays had been cancelled. Thirty ambulances will still be accessible at Bhit Shah and the national highway to handle any emergencies, he added.


The Culture Department will host the customary “Sughars” Kachahri on the first day of the Urs and Latif Adabi Conference, and on the second day, eminent scholars, authors, and intellectuals will discuss their research on Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai’s philosophy and teachings during other events.
