The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) agreed to install electronic gates (also known as “E-gates”) at airports all throughout the country.
airports in Pakistan get e-gates: PCAA has apparently initiated the first phase of the E-gate project in the three main international airports, namely Islamabad, Allama Iqbal, and Jinnah International Airport, after deciding to install E-gates.
The Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority (DGCAA) and the Aviation Secretary will oversee the completion of this project.
According to sources, recommendations for the E-gate project have also come from other national organisations, including the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), passports, and FIA immigration.
They will request tenders for the E-gate project after obtaining board approval.
With the implementation of E-gates, travellers will no longer have to wait in line to collect boarding passes because they may get their boarding cards by scanning their passport and ticket at the E-gate.
According to sources within the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the E-gate makes use of the information stored on the passport’s biometric chip.
Passengers will benefit from the convenience of this new technology when travelling internationally.
According to this technology, after a traveller has undergone biometric authentication—facial, fingerprint, iris recognition, or overall—the gate would automatically open for them.
