An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad gave Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), to police on a two-day physical detention.
Pervaiz Elahi handed over police: After the ATC reserved the verdict, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officers arrested him.
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) re-arrested Elahi in connection with the attack on the courthouse shortly after his initial detention under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance on Tuesday.
On September 3, a case was opened at the CTD police station against Pervaiz Elahi.
The legal representative of the PTI president states that an unidentified party forcibly removed Pervaiz Elahi and his driver from the vehicle, subsequently kidnapping them outside the police lines in the same vehicle.
LHC wants the police to respond.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Pervaiz Elahi was once again detained, and the Lahore High Court (LHC) today requested responses from the Punjab police and the Superintendent Jail.
During the hearing, the Chief Police Officer of Rawalpindi (CPO) requested an apology from the court, stating, “We want the court to accept our apology.”
The court then ordered the District Police Officer (DPO) and the Central Police Officer (CPO) to provide their responses within seven days, indicating that a complete investigation was necessary before making any decision.
The LHC postponed the hearing until September 18, providing all parties concerned with ample time to present their cases.
