Hazrat Imam Hussain’s (RA) Chehlum will be honoured across northern Sindh with fervour and veneration under increased security.
Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain: The occasion marked the end of a 40-day period of sorrow following the 10th of Muharram, the day of Imam Hussain and his 72 companions’ 680 A.D. martyrdom. Alam, Tazia, and Zuljinah would lead mourning processions across Sukkur to commemorate the day.
To protect Chehlum processions, foolproof security procedures have been implemented. From Markazi Imam Bargah to Ghareeb Ababd, the major Chehlum procession would depart. Various locations within the Sukkur division would also be used to gather smaller mourning processions. Northern Sindh would be subject to a pillion riding prohibition.
Additional Rangers and police commando units would be stationed in vulnerable areas in Sukkur and Khairpur city along the routes of the processions and Imam Bargahs.
In the meantime, Chehlum, commemorating Hazrat Imam Hussain’s (RA), was being observed. All possible precautions were taken, according to Commissioner Sukkur Ghulam Mustafa Phull.
Further, According to him, Chehlum Day security plans have been requested from the police and other law enforcement organisations. He warned that anyone found complicit in inciting sectarian enmity would face indiscriminate punishment.
In order to film processions with video cameras, a control room has been set up in the DC office.
