As the nation prepares to mark Hazrat Imam Hussain’s (AS) chehlum on Thursday, authorities have implemented strict security measures.
security arrangements for Chehlum: At 1 pm, the main march in Karachi will start at Nishtar Park. Shops along the procession’s path have also shut down, and authorities have cordoned off the route with containers. Furthermore, the Green Line Bus will not operate today, and educational institutions will remain closed.
To protect the parade, a total of 4,422 police officers, including 80 senior officers, will be on duty around the city.
850 traffic police officers will also be on duty to ensure that the traffic redirected from the procession’s path moves without incident.
30,000 police officers are on duty in Punjab to guarantee the safety of processions and majalis.
Throughout the province, 378 processions and 677 majalis are planned.
Through safe city cameras and control rooms, the police are continuously monitoring the procession routes. There are also female police officers and snipers on duty.
The safety of those travelling to Lahore for the urs of a Data Ganj Bakhsh is another issue that the police must deal with.
